The Swingrest!

A while back I did a blog post on The Nest Rest - which was an outdoor seat designed by Daniel Pouzet and Fred Frety with the German manufacturer called Dedon.

Daniel Pouzet has teamed up again with Dedon to create a new piece of furniture called the Swingrest! And I've got to say...I wouldn't mind having one. Based on the original design on the Nest Rest, the Swingrest is designed to provide a more open feeling and it also sits a few extra people. It also has a small Corian tabletop, which adds a place for you to lay your drinks (which I think is a nice touch!) It looks like ultimate comfort!

Take a look and see what you think!

Doesn't it look glorious? Think you might like to have one too?

Want a creative way to invite your friends to your birthday bash??

Have your invitations printed on a balloon! There's lots of online companies that do custom balloon printing so design your message and go from there! Everyone will love it!

Fill up your balloons with helium - one of each year of the birthday boy/girl and then attach a picture at the bottom of each piece of string for each year of their life!

What's better than presents all at once?? A present every hour!
Base it on the time of day they were born and go from there!

I think this is a great way to make tribute to your birthday friend!

Want to add some personality to your birthday decor? Make your own birthday party hats! You could even turn this into a project for your birthday party attendees - set up a party hat station and get them to make their own!

Fill the station with scrapbook paper, pom poms, and little craft store goodies and get everybody's creative sides showing!

You can make your own birthday garland just by using felt balls found at any craft store! Just pull a long piece of string through each felt ball and drape the string whatever way you like!

I hope you find these pictures helpful and hopefully they have given you some ideas for when you are planning your next big birthday bash!
Party On!

How to Decorate Without Painting!

It's time for a request blog! My lovely friend Mary just moved into a new apartment and she me to dedicate a blog to decorating your place without painting!

I know this is a problem that lots of people have when they move into a new place and there are restrictions to how you are allowed to decorate your new home. But you do have the right to make your new space your own. It's important to feel comfortable and add your own character to your place and there are lots of ways to do this without getting out the paint buckets! So I found some great ways to get around the issue of not being allowed to add paint to your walls! I hope the pictures below give you some insight and that they help you along in your decorating adventures!

I love the way this room is put together. It's the perfect example of tons of colour in a very white room!

I found this rug at Ikea and I think it's pretty great! It's bright and colourful and could bring life to any space. If you want to liven up a white space, you need to find accessories that are going to add contrast to the area. This rug is a great example of that because it will bring the focus away from your bare white walls and everyone will be looking at your awesome new rug! Ikea has other rugs as well that would be great for filling in a white space - check out this link: Ikea Rugs

This photo is a great example of how you need to try and find accessories for your space that add life and character. Look for bold colours and patterns that are going to take the emphasis away from all the white. Remember window treatments are very important! They add a lot more to a room than people give them credit for! I love the colour of the window treatments in this photo - the matching lamp brings the whole look together.

Okay yes - those are roses. But they're also one of the quickest and most effective ways to add colour to any space! Pick your favorite flower and you've got yourself an awesome colourful centerpiece!

I'm a huge fan of ottomans. They have so many functions and I love it!! Storage, coffee table, foot stool, extra seating - and they come in so many colours!! They're a fun and convenient addition to any room.

I think this idea is a little bit of genius. I know it's not an option for some people but it's looks pretty neat when it's finished! I've seen this done with ribbon (like in this picture) and I've also seen it done with masking tape (which might be easier in terms of not having to put holes in the walls)  You can get masking tape that has different patterns and colours which could be super fun to mess around with.

I came across some really cool patterned masking tape on Etsy that you can take a look at for ideas! Here's the link if you want to check them out: Etsy Masking Tape

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend! I'm always up for requests so if there is anything you guys want to see on the blog or would like help with, comment below!

Exposed Brick!

I love the look of exposed brick. There's a classic richness to it that I find authentic, yet refreshing. Whether designing a house or whether it's forced on you by an existing home, most people don't consider exposed brick. I find it adds endless amounts of character to any setting and creates lots of design inspiration. There are other options for exposed brick as well - in a lot of cases, people choose to paint over it, which gives the wall the brick texture but blends the colour into whatever is going on with the rest of the room. It's all about your design tastes!

I've come across a lot of examples of amazing exposed brick, so I picked out a few of my favorites and I posted them below! Enjoy!

Case of the Small Bathroom Blues?

I always love a big spacious bathroom. I suppose it's because bathrooms are usually designed to be small and compact, so when you walk into a roomy bathroom it's a welcoming change. And being a girl probably has something to do with it as well...I like having room for my stuff, okay?

If you're like me and enjoy a big bathroom but you don't have a lot of space for it, you can always make some changes so that the room appears to be much bigger than it actually is - stick to shades of white and neutrals for the walls, cabinets, bathtub, toilet, etc. This will help your situation more than you realize. If every aspect of your bathroom appears clean and crisp, it will make the viewer believe there is more space than there actually is. Darker wall colours in a bathroom can close off the room and make it feel gloomy and uninviting - especially if you have a bathroom with a small window, or no window at all. You can always liven up your bathroom by using colourful accessories and furniture - there's so many fun bathroom options available these days in terms of textures, patterns, etc so you shouldn't have trouble finding some awesome goodies!

I've selected some pictures below to help with you get a better of what I'm referring to! Hope this helps!
