Paint is an brilliant way to fix this problem and the options that come with paint are completely endless. You can fix anything - tables, chairs, headboards, bed frames, dressers, cabinets - whatever you want!
First off, you need to decide what kind of effect you want to achieve in the room once the furniture restoring is finished...is the room calm? bold? bright? funky? You need to have your furniture finishings reflect that. The best thing about giving furniture a face-lift with paint is that when you're finished, if you hate it - you can do it over again and try something totally different. It's all up to you!
Check out some of these great examples of furniture updates with paint! I hope you find some great ideas!

Headboards can be super fun to accent in a room. They always seem to be something that can get forgotten about when looking for ways to add colour to a space. Depending on your bed placement, they're usually one of the first things you see when you walk into a bedroom, so keep that in mind and play around with it!

I really liked this idea a lot - if you're too afraid to go for bright, bold colours on big pieces of furniture, why not paint the body a neutral shade you're comfortable with, and then pick one piece and make that a bright colour - in this case, the handles.
